Hixton Cafe off to a good start – Jacksoncountychronicle

Last Thursday marked the opening of Sharon Soppa’s new venture at the place which formerly housed Hixton’s Blue Collar Café, and many other cafes before throughout the years.

There is a lot of history of good eating in that building and Soppa plans to continue that tradition.

All her life, Soppa has been happiest when she is cooking and feeding people so this opportunity is definitely a labor of love.

She promises good home cooking at affordable prices. Eating at the café is just like Sunday dinner at Grandma’s house where a recent Sunday noon special was chicken and dressing with all the trimmings.

Homemade soups and lots of baking, her specialty are pies, cinnamon rolls and donuts will be waiting as well.

It may be Soppa’s name on the Café, but make no mistake, this is definitely a family business.

Her kids, Bill and Tonya Holmes, help run the business as well.

Bill Holmes is definitely the Fish Fry King, with the café serving more than 50 pounds of fish during their very first Friday Fish Fry. He was very pleased at the response and number of compliments received that first Friday.

Soppa’s granddaughter Lizabeth, grandson Asa and future granddaughter Ayshia contribute to the successful running of the café as well.

Café hours are Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you want to take a meal home, their phone number is 715-963-2212 to order carry outs. Seniors of the area, ages 55 and older, will be glad to hear that senior meals will be available Tuesdays through Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Soppa was excited to open her restaurant and pleased that so many people stopped in to make the first days open so successful. She and her family look forward to continue welcoming customers to Sharon’s Café.
